With the May the 4th festivities having passed, The LEGO Group has unveiled the next build to join the Ideas theme. The upcoming LEGO Ideas 21357 Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. set, giving Pixar’s iconic mascot the brick-built treatment, won’t keep fans waiting long as it is slated to release soon. Plus, it’s even open for preorder from both LEGO and Amazon simultaneously. Head below to get more information and check out the pictures we’ve collected.

LEGO Ideas is hands-down one of my favorite themes, and it’s precisely because the result of this theme’s sets comes from the fans themselves, which lends to some truly awe-inspiring designs after voting happens and the LEGO Group does their magic to polish the winning builds. What’s more, LEGO’s new Ideas 21357 Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. set has certainly had a longer road to get here, and I’m glad to see it finally arrive, as this iconic mascot will surely touch the hearts and nostalgia for several generations of builders. What’s more, it’s open for preorder now at both LEGO and Amazon, carrying a $69.99 price tag and slated to release June 1, 2025.

It’s been a long journey for the Luxo Jr. Lamp since it was presented by LEGO Ideas fan designer T0BY1KENOBI25150 in 2022, getting stuck in brick limbo two separate times until it was finally greenlit last year in September. The designs have definitely improved over the original submission, capturing the playful appliance quite well with some nice element usage, like the very realistic springs.

While everyone is now aware that Luxo Jr. appears in the opening title of Pixar films, not many know (except those die-hard Disney Pixar fans) that the adorable lamp has been around since 1986, when it first appeared in the original short, showcasing computer-animated graphics, leading to the founding of Pixar.

It’s measuring in at 8 inches tall and 6 inches wide, and it’s nice to see the price not being wildly high. I can definitely see folks build and add it to their workstations as a playful “replacement” for their desk lamp. What I truly love, as I’m sure plenty of you also had the thought when first hearing the news, is that the printed Luxo ball comes with the functionality to be squished!
