The looming and rumored upcoming release of the Sony XM6 headphones are easily the most anticipated thing in personal audio thus far in 2025. Leaks, rumors, and datamined details have been surfacing across the web in full force over the last few months (and well before that) but a listing for the new headphones quickly popped up on Amazon Spain over the last several hours, all but conforming an imminent release while also leaking a potential release date and the specs of the beloved next XM series headphones.
Sony XM6 headphones leak on Amazon
Up until right now, the best details we have uncovered on the new Sony XM6 headphones came by way of prominent Sony outlet The Walkman Blog. It had uncovered a number of potential details on the headphones including specs, colors, and event a release window. But today’s leak is easily the most concrete yet.
The new Sony XM6 headphones are coming, and likely very soon.
Reddit users recently spotted a listing on Amazon Spain (via DealLabs) for the new headphones that, as I’m sure you already guessed, has now been taken down completely. While clearly someone jumped the gun here, chances are there wasn’t going to be what appears to be an official Amazon listing for a set of headphones that don’t exist, and likely not for a pair that wasn’t going to get officially revealed quite soon, if not hit the market for sale.
Most folks, based on the Amazon leak, have the release or reveal date for the new Sony XM6 headphones landing sometime in the middle of this month, perhaps even next week – although nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
The now removed Amazon listing carried a price tag at $388 Euros. If correct, this would put the price tag on the new Sony XM6 headphones in the ballpark of about $450 in the U.S. Pricey, but certainly right in the realm of what many folks were expecting. The XM5 headphones carry a $400 list price and are often available for less than that on sale. Add in the global tariff situation and rising prices on loads of electronics goods, never mind the potential enhancements Sony is bringing to the table, and a $450 USD MSRP starts to make a ton of sense.
Based on what we have already heard and the recent Amazon, some of the XM6 specs floating around today might actually ring true – the same 30 hours of battery life, significantly enhanced adaptive ANC based on current environment conditions, Black, Platinum Silver, and Navy Blue colorways at launch, and significantly updated beam forming microphones for batter call quality.
The rest of the details most folks are are collating here are much of what you would already expect, we will have to wait for official word from Sony on any other potentially game changing additions to its next-generation XM6 headphones, and it might not be very long now.
